The Leopold Christmas Event

We decided to hold a Christmas Event for all the residents that have taken part in the project so far. The event was held on Thursday December 15th LiC at St Pauls Church, Bow Common which is very local to the residents. Everyone that attended got to enjoy free food and drink while watching performances from some of the young people we have been working with and also performances from residents of the Leopold Estate. We also had Santa's Grotto and facepainting for the children which was very popular at the event. Over 100 residents turned up which LiC are extremely pleased with and we hope to carry on working with them on the Leopold Project next year.

The Leopold Funday

On September the 24th Leader in Community (LiC) organised a funday for residents of Leopold Estate.

LiC had a really positive response from the residents of Leopold on Saturday. We estimate between 150 to 200 people turned up. 95 people registered for the raffle and over 70 people completed the Poplar HARCA surveys.

On the day we had a bouncy castle, face painting, henna and fee food and drink

Leaders in Community and our volunteers were happy with how things went and we discussed improvements for next time like involving more residents in the planning and delivery of the event and making them have sense of ownership on the day.

Yoga and Chair Aerobics

Every Mondays between 1pm-2:30pm the yoga and chair aerobics sessions takes place at the St Paul's Way Church Hall. The sessions have been taking place since April and currently have loyal participants who turn up every week. If you're interested please contact Abdul or Charlotte on 020 7987 8796 or email abdul-lic@live.com for more information.

Trip to Paradise Wildlife Park

On September 3rd thirty five residents from Leopold Estate ventured out to the Paradise Wildlife Park in Hertfordshire as part of a community day trip. The trip was organised by Leaders in Community. The residents were delighted with the opportunity.

Gous Ali from 77 Elmslie Point feels trips like this needs to be organised more often "More project like the one we had today which was an absolutely fantastic day out".

Elaine Richards from 7 Couzens House said "three adults and two children in our group participated in the Leopold Project trip to Paradise Wildlife Park and we thoroughly enjoyed it".

Elaine Brown from 27 Couzens House told LiC staff it was an enjoyable day where she got to meet good neighbours she hadn't met before.

Lakie Begum from 75 Elmslie Point gave a special thank you to Poplar HARCA for supporting the trip.

Men's Football

The men's football session takes place every Tuesdays at Mile End Leisure Centre between 9:30am-10:30am. Approximately fifteen Leopold residents turn up for a kick about. It's one of our most popular activities on the programme. If interested please contact Abdul on 020 7987 8796 or email abdul-lic@live.com to reserve a spot.
